Fred Vandervort recommended Grooming Humans as a
potential new member. They have two locations in Tempe.
Fred has known the owner for 10 years.
Ralph Cunningham knows a business consultant (team
building, etc) that is interested in joining.
Randy Clark brought in a potential member this
morning. Steve Chilton offers handyman services. He
has a background in electrical engineering and has worked all over
the world. He can handle commercial and residential jobs.
He is a jack-of-all-trades. If anything goes wrong, he can
usually fix it.

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE INCENTIVES |
|
NEW MEMBERS |
-
The Initiation
Dues of $150 and the usual quarterly (pro-rated) dues of
$150 will apply.
-
A New Member can recoup that
Initiation Fee by using other MABE
member services.
-
The New Member is given up to 6
months to use other MABE member
services to recoup the $150
Initiation Fee. They can do this any number
of times if
they like, with a $25 minimum repayment (6 X 25 = 150) OR
a
single use of service getting ALL of the $150 initiation fee
back at one
time.
-
A receipt from the service will be
required and given to our Treasurer in
order to obtain the
repayment. This will keep it simple for any of our
MABE
businesses to conduct business in the usual way.
|
|
NEW MEMBER SPONSOR REWARD |
-
The MABE member who sponsors a new
member will be given a one-time
use of a $25 credit, that
will be good for 6 months. It can be used to
recoup any
service from another MABE member.
-
A receipt from the MABE business is
all that will be required and should
be given to our Treasurer in order to obtain the credit. This is your
reward
for bringing in a new member.

Question of the Day
Reflecting on What MABE Means to Us
Roman Okonowski - Sometimes we forget all the
ways in which we benefit from MABE...
-
Leads and networking opportunities
-
Sharing of business ideas
-
Problem solving with Question of the Day
-
Support - We can poor our problems out and get
positive support
-
Personal relationships
This group has been very successful since it's
inception 14 years ago. There are 40-plus members willing
to sacrifice time every Friday morning to be here. We want
new members to understand all of this. Five of the
original 12 members are here today. We were a take-off of
the group Egypt. We thought if we grew to 50 members we
would be doing well. We have approached that number but
never quite reached it.
Greg Stewart - We have had many members that
have not wanted to grow past 25 and for good reasons. But
I see the benefits of growth. It adds to the dynamics of
the group and we don't hear the same people speak over and over.
Dean Synan - I was a member of Egypt and another
group called ABA. Egypt had 140 members and ABA had around
60. This group is by far better. And it is not just
because of the smaller size making it more intimate. It
is the type of people. This group is more laid back.
I think if we grew to 50 or 60 people we still wouldn't lose
anything because of the type of people we bring in.
Sandro Menasci - Ex members dropped out for
different reasons but those relationships are still there.
Dave Crissman - I was a non-organization type of
guy. I was reluctant about joining MABE. I
don't like to refer other businesses or be referred unless we
know each other. What stood out to me with MABE was that
there was no pressure to produce leads and we were encouraged to
get to know each other better. I have made more business
decisions based on discussions here. I never know what to
expect when I come here on Friday mornings.
Gus Dekavallas - I bring so many members
in because it is an honor to come into the group. We are
at a point where people want to come in.
Robert Busch - This whole meeting took place
today because a few of us had discussed how we missed talking
about business problems during the meetings. We would like
to get back to that. Since joining, MABE has been my best
referral. I would also like to see us get back to the fun
and jokes.
Keith Miller - This group is a
basic support system. I sit in the cheap seats and just
watch. Some people feel comfortable about discussing
problems they are having and others don't. I think this
year we should try to open up more. Forty minds can offer
great solutions. Hearing the same speeches year after year
gets boring. Lets talk more about issues.
Chris Curran - I was a member of
another group and they were all about "what can you bring to the
table?" They were focused on money, tips and leads.
Good and bad times come in business. Out on the
street you always have to project that all is great. You
don't have to do that here. The people that come in stay
for the most part. I asked some members if they had
to sell their MABE seat, how much would it be worth? Most
answered that they wouldn't sell. It has taken me a few
years to understand that.
Randy Clark - The board discussed having a sheet
at the front door before each meeting for people to write down,
anonymously, any business concerns that they were having so we
can discuss them during the meeting. (Dave Lathrop
suggested you could also tell the person running the meeting and
have them bring it up.)
Sandro Menasci - I know sometimes I can step
over the line. But we are like family here. I know
that all will be forgiven. We don't have to be on our
guard here.
Mark Dreher - All of you make life easier for
me. It is a trust issue. Things get done without
hassle. I had an old partner that was in a group that met
monthly to discuss business issues. They told members if
they had a problem to let them know and 3 or 4 of them would
come to your office and help you solve it.
George Booth - The advantage of this group is
that you talk to "legal people" all week but you come here on
Friday and talk to normal people.
