Greg Stewart would like to see the group grow to 50 members.  He asked members to consider the following categories:

  • Lock Smith

  • Fast Food Restaurant
Gus Dekavallas knows the owner of a local Sonic.  She is a client of his and a very nice lady.

MEMBERSHIP DRIVE INCENTIVES
NEW MEMBERS
  • The Initiation Dues of $150 and the usual quarterly (pro-rated) dues
    of $150 will apply.

  • A New Member can recoup that Initiation Fee by using other MABE
    member services.

  • The New Member is given up to 6 months to use other MABE
member services to recoup  the $150 Initiation Fee.  They can do this
any number of times if they like, with a $25 minimum repayment
    (6 X 25 = 150) OR a single use of service getting ALL of the $150
initiation fee back at one time.

  • A receipt from the service will be required and given to our Treasurer
in order to obtain the repayment.  This will keep it simple for any of
our MABE businesses to conduct business in the usual way.

NEW MEMBER SPONSOR REWARD
  • The MABE member who sponsors a new member will be given a one-
time use of a $25 credit, that will be good for 6 months.  It can be
used to recoup any  service from another MABE member.

  • A receipt from the MABE business is all that will be required and
should be given to our Treasurer in order to obtain the credit.  This is
your reward for bringing in a new member.

Mighty Minute

We asked our newest members to briefly tell us about their businesses and how we can get them leads...

Fred Kent is CEO of First Credit Union.  They are like a co-op in that they have a volunteer board of directors.  They try to provide traditional banking services at more than fair prices.  However, with rates so low everywhere, what they can offer above and beyond the competition is great service.  They have 13 offices statewide in Flagstaff, Tucson and here.  They are in the process of putting in their business department.  He looks forward to getting member's input so they can better serve small businesses.

Jim Bache is a certified specialist in trust and estate law.  As he put it, he will get you now (estate planning) or he will get you later (probate).  Its a fun business to be in.  Jim can do the whole gambit from simple power of attorney to more extensive planning.  He has been in this business since 1980.  Everybody can use his services.  However, the "prime" candidates would be young couples with children and the elderly, as well as small business owners.  There is more to it than providing forms.  Jim provides planning.  It can get very complicated.

Question of the Day

Joe Zingale wants to know...

Has anyone made a purchase on E-Bay?

  • Yes, good experience

  • Bought and sold

  • Small stuff, it was fun, very successful

  • I bought my Porsche and about 70 other things. Just watch the feedback.

  • PayPal works beautifully

  • I have sold broken items.  People will buy anything.  Just make sure to disclose everything.

  • Retail stores are suffering at the hands of E-bay.

  • I know someone that had their identity stolen on E-bay.

  • Depends on what you are buying.  E-Bay is great for hard to find items.  I only had 1 bad experience out of 200  transactions.

Main Speaker

Campaign Speeches

Charles Hultstrand
I am one of the original members of MABE.  I would like to see MABE grow with quality members.  I have been on the board before.  Now that I have a little more time, I would like to do it again.

Althea Bussert
I am not one of the original members but I am close.  I have served twice before and became the social guru.  I really believe that it is the glue of the group.  I have organized 30 events, some large and some small.  If voted onto the board I would feel most comfortable in this position.

Brian Verbraken
I have been a member for 1-1/2 years.  This group has a lot of great people in it.  I have had experience on other boards and have served as president.  I would gladly serve on this board.

Mike Tanner
I have been a member for only 6-7 months.  I don't have a whole lot of experience with this organization.  If you vote for me, I am sure I will figure out what I am suppose to do.

Denver Johnson
I have not been in the group long.  I have enjoyed the associations and business.  I have been a member of large and small groups in the past.  I believe if you are a part of a group like this you should contribute any way you can.

Roman Okonowski
I have been a member since the beginning but under a different category.  I am a big believer in this organization.  I am excited to see the new enthusiasm and growth.  I would like to help.  I have been on the board three times and served as president.  It is neat to run against such an elite group.

Elections are next week.  Two positions are up for grabs!
