Nick Mawrenko visited our group today.  He is a partner in a small payroll service company.  They do not offer benefits.  They strictly handle payroll.  They can help you if you have only 1 employee or 100.  There are lots of good companies out there but they have gotten so big that clients become a number.  Click here to view part 1 of his application.

This week's leads focus...

Business Spotlight

Carole Weishaar has reinvented herself several times since joining MABE.  This may have some people wondering what exactly does she do these days.  Everything.  Carole is part of a larger group called TravelPros.com which is a bunch of individually owned companies that share a common resource...bonding and insurance.  But she is still an independent contractor and she can handle all of your travel needs no matter how big or small.

Carole advised members with passports to renew them before they expire.  Its just less hassle.  New passport regulations are going into affect this fall.  You will need a valid passport to get back into the United States from the Caribbean.  Starting in 2006 you will need a passport to get into the United States from Canada and New Mexico.  These regulations affect travel by air and water.  Beginning in 2007, it will affect all travel by land as well.  Fees are going up too.  A new passport will cost you $97.  A renewal will cost you $67.  They are going to passports with embedded chips.

Another tip that she offered was to watch the weight and size of your luggage.  Each airline has different limits.  If you are catching a second flight on your trip, be aware of the limits of each flight as they may be different.

Main Speaker

Steve Chilton
Chilton Services Inc.

What am I doing in America? Life is good.  That is why I am here.  I change countries every 7 years...I get the 7-year itch.  But I am in my 8th year here.  I have been in MABE for 12 months.  I joined hoping to get an extra day's work out of it.  In the last 6 months I have had more work than in the past 2 years!  The problem is that I don't have enough staff to do the work.

I was born in Birmingham, England (think Detroit with a British accent).  I was the oldest of four.  I was a glorified babysitter at 4 and stripping cars at 9.  That's how it was there.  Both parents had to work to support the family and so you did what you had to do to survive.

I gained technical knowledge in school and continued with it when I joined the army.  I became an electrical mechanical engineer.  I also learned to play rugby which became my first love.

I married at 19 and had 2 daughters.  We moved back and forth between England, Germany and Spain.  Each time I started a new company, sold it and lived off the proceeds until there was none left.  My life can be summed up like this...I always wanted not to work.

I friend had invited us to the United States.  We liked it here so we bought a home in Gold Canyon.  I did small odd jobs to get by.  Chilton Services was actually an afterthought.  I needed to make more money.

Then Randy introduced me to MABE.  I had been involved with groups before.  I was expecting to learn a funny handshake and such.  I joined just to get a little extra work.  It has been fantastic!  I apologize that I can't get to all of you as quickly as I would like.

My wife and daughter were recently in an auto accident.  They are alright but it makes you take a step back and realize how lucky you are.  You need to appreciate what you have now because it can be taken away so easily.

I am getting too old for rugby and skydiving but I still need that adrenaline rush that comes with competing in a sport.  I am looking for one to participate in.   I welcome any ideas.

I am not a religious man.  I believe life is an experience and you should try to have as many as you can.
