This week's
leads focus...
Business Spotlight
Mike Tanner was today's Spotlight.
Mike strives to do his work well by going above and beyond his
clients' expectations. He maintains a clean, safe
environment where you and your car will be safe. He was
recently awarded certification by First Network which is a very
prestigious honor in his industry. He is also in the
detail business. He drives his detailers "nuts" because he
is such a perfectionist. He inspects every car to make
sure his clients have that "just bought a new car" feeling when
they drive away. He recommends a detailing every 6 months.
Notable Mentions
Board elections are next week.
Althea Bussert and Roman Okonowski will be leaving the board
and we are looking for two members to fill their spots.
Phil Passante, Denver Johnson and
Andrew Jensen
were nominated. Each gave a brief speech....
- Phil Passante appreciates the
opportunity. He has a commitment to this group and if
nominated will work his "fingers to the bones"!
- Denver Johnson also appreciates the
nomination. He has always taken a leadership role in
groups that he has been involved with. This group
stimulates him and if elected he will do whatever he can to
serve.
- Andrew Jensen has been a board member
before and would be honored to serve again. But he
also believes that new blood is good and that both Phil and
Denver would make good candidates.
Lisa Wolfe is working on a promo
letter for our group. Please contact her if you have
any ideas for this letter.
As many of you have already heard,
Dean Synan is going through a difficult separation from his
business partner. Please take a moment to contact Dean
and lend your support during this critical time in his
business. If you have had experience with the
partnership breakups, he could use your advice.

Auto Glass
Excellence
Phil is from
Wisconsin. He moved to Arizona 20 years ago so he feels
like a native. Even as a kid he was a perfectionist.
If he couldn't play a game to the best of his ability, he just
wouldn't play at all. He tries not to pass this strict
attitude on to his kids, now 7 and 10. Instead of being
perfectionists, he prefers that they simply "try" to do the best
they can.
The job of
installing windshields was bestowed on him 16 years ago.
Four years ago he went into business for himself. He has
learned along the way the importance of installing glass
properly. Consumers don't realize it but there really is
an important difference between companies and how they perform
the job. The difference can literally be a matter of life
or death.
The news
show 20/20 did a story on windshield replacements. They
highlighted the importance of proper installation and caught on
video many installers taking shortcuts that put you and your
family at risk. Your chances of dying in a car crash
increase if you are thrown from the vehicle. The
windshield helps keeps you inside the car. Something as
simple as not wearing gloves has a huge impact on how the glass
adheres to the car.
At Auto
Glass Excellence, Phil only uses the best products on the
market. He could save a lot of money if he used what most
competitors do but that just isn't good enough. Quality
matters with Phil. He looks for integrity in his
employees. And he spot checks their work to make sure they
are doing everything as he would do it. He chooses to pay
them hourly so they are not tempted to cut corners.
The time
needed to install the glass varies. Phil has 12 and 13
year veterans of the business installing for him. They
know the tools and proper procedures. They can install a
windshield in half and hour.
Make sure
you follow the instructions after having a windshield replaced.
For instance, it is a good idea to wait several hours before
driving your car. The main reason for this is that the
passenger airbag only works if the windshield stays intact when
it is deployed. Weather conditions such as high humidity
will also have an impact on how long it takes the adhesive to
dry.
When a
person needs their windshield replaced they usually call their
insurance company. The insurance company then puts them
into the network where usually the cheaper company is sent out
to save the insurance company money. Cheap rates usually
means cutting corners. You are better of calling Phil
first. He does not charge more. It works like an
HMO. He charges the insurance company their set rate.
They only difference is quality. If you don't call Phil,
he recommends that you at least call the owner of the company
you do use and stress to them that safety is a concern and ask
them if their installers are certified. This in itself
does not guarantee a quality installation but it is a step in
the right direction.
