Notable Mentions

Greg Stewart invites members to visit the new FastFrame web site http://www.fastframe.com/main.html.

The group decided not to have a meeting on Good Friday, April 14th.  However, Dave Lathrop and Nick Mawrenko will have an informal breakfast meeting (same time and place).  They invite other MABE members to join them.  Please note that MABE will not be paying for breakfast.  This group will continue the discussion on debt.

Business Spotlight

Barbara Kollman was today's Business Spotlight.  Her business is a mystery to many.  She provides actuary services to small businesses.  She has been in the business for 30 years and owned her own company for 14 years.  It is very tough to become a pension actuary.  There are only 13,000 people with this title in the entire country over a 30-year span!

As an actuary, Barbara takes complex tax laws and integrates them with her mathematical knowledge and refines the numbers to create a pension plan.   That is to say...she manipulates tax laws to get more leverage for business owners.  She is the hired gun!

Why establish a retirement plan?

  1. Tax deductions

  2. Tax-deferred growth accumulation

  3. Protection from bankruptcy.

If you already have a tax plan, she can give you a second opinion.  If you are not sure if you need one, she can help you decide if and when you should establish one.

Main Speaker

Bylaws Review

Today the Bylaws Committee presented their suggested updates to the MABE Bylaws.  The handouts showed the proposed changes and what the final draft would look like.  Members were asked to take some time this next week to review the documents and submit their recommendations to the committee.
