Notable Mentions

Board Elections...
Board nomination speeches (in a "Man on the Street" format) and elections were held today.  Barbara Kollman was absent which made her a shoe in to win one seat on the board.  Robert Busch suggested that he would only bring radical antagonism to the board but endorsed Barbara's nomination.  Greg Stewart offered to add seasoning and spice.  Apparently that is just what the group needed.  They gave him the second open seat.  Congratulations to Greg and Barbara for being elected to the board.  An even bigger congratulations to Robert Busch for narrowly escaping!

Question of the Day

Joe Zingale wants to know...
How do you advertise job openings?
Use http://craigslist.org/.  It is the site used by the younger generation for everything.  Listings are free.  It really works.  But make sure to keep it updated.

Fred Vandervort wants to know...
Dex Online or the Yellow Pages?
Dex Online is the most used listing in the Phoenix market by a landslide.  And it only costs $100/month - A lot cheaper than the Yellow Pages.

Signature Travel Network

Carole Weishaar was today's main speaker along with guest Kathleen Francois of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.

Her Background
Carole has been a member of MABE for 9 years.  Like other members that have been involved with other groups, she found that none have the dynamics of MABE.

Carole is old!!!  Between her and her husband they have six children and six grandchildren with one on the way.  As many of you know, the one on the way is coming from Guatemala but, unfortunately, the adoption is tied up in paperwork.

Carole is a 12-year cancer survivor.  She started a cancer foundation that is getting to the point where they need to hire an Executive Director.

Her Career
Carole is an independent agent with TrvlPros (a partnership of full-service travel agents). You may also notice "A Branch of Carefree Travel of Scottsdale Inc." in her signature line.  This is her host agent.

Her background is in corporate America.  She got into travel for fun.  She also enjoys the profit.

Her Guest
Kathleen
Francois of Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines came as a guest of Carole's.  She began by bragging about Carole's recent accomplishment.  Thousands of agents were nominated to receive the prestigious honor of being named godmother to RCCL's new ship, Liberty of the Sea.  Carole was chosen as one of the top ten.

Kathleen went on to discuss incentive business travel.  Businesses have found that offering a trip on a cruise as a reward for service motivates employees.  They become happier and produce more.

Many businesses are now having meetings or private cocktail parties on ships.  Unlike hotels, the fees are all inclusive (equipment, room, etc).  There are no hidden costs.

Your business or association can book a block of cabins or the entire ship.  It creates a memorable experience.

Gift certificates are now available for cruise travel.
