Steve Taylor has joined
our group. Please give him a warm welcome.
John Gruber announced that
this would be his last MABE meeting. He bears no grudges.
He has no disputes. He is not retiring. He is not
joining another leads group. His leaving has nothing to do
with tax evasion or the fact that we have too many lawyers in
the group. He is simply too busy running On-Site Video and
a newspaper on the other side of the country. He
believes it is important to be an active member in any group you
belong to. He feels the expertise and comradery in this
group are second to none. John will be missed!
Gus Dekavallas has a body
shop owner that he would like to propose for membership.

Reg Batt is starting

with plaques. Mike was given a plaque for his
service as president and Tim was honored as the founder
of MABE.
Amy Ahrensdorf will
be demonstrating her skills at the Scottsdale Culinary
Festival on both the 14th and 15th of April.
Question of the Day
Mike Tanner...How do you compare EGYPT to MABE?
-
They meet Thursday mornings at the Phoenix Country
Club.
-
They have about 120 members.
-
Because of their size they can't do things like the
Question of the Day.
-
It
is fairly easy to develop relationships there.
-
They have a paid Executive Director and a paid
Executive Secretary along with an office -
Quite a bit of overhead.
-
Dues are quite a bit higher.
-
Lead cards are collected, mailed and faxed the same
day of the meeting.
-
They have categories of leads. For instance,
mentioning a building being constructed is a general
lead.
-
I
miss this size of group.
Tim
Logan...What are your thoughts on the matter?
-
Leads are a dime a dozen, Relationships last
forever.
-
Leads without relationships are not worth much.
-
Don't join if you can't get by without a lead for a
year.
-
Some things stay the same and some change.
Stay open minded. Its a mistake to change
things that work well. It is also a mistake
not to continually evaluate the need for change.
-
I
suggest you mentor each other. A successful
member can help another member struggling with
business.
-
If
possible, take a small group to observe Egypt.
Compare the positives and negatives.
Main Speaker
[directory/old/menasci.htm]

Sandro Menasci had only a short
time to give his speech today. He omitted the personal
background except to say he has a wonderful family!
Sandro has been in the car repair
business all his life. He is happy to say that he has some
real good guys working for him right now. In fact, they are
the best crew he has ever had. The place almost runs
itselfs.
Cars keep getting more and more
complicated. He has to sit down with his crew, evaluate all
these codes and discuss what should be checked and the best way to
do it. "If we are going to do it, we do it right."
It is very important to maintain
your vehicles regularly to avoid costly damage. Sandro
does do car inspections but realize that he can't catch everything.
He can also get tires for you even
though he doesn't sell them specifically. It is important to
must match tire to the car. You should also consider your
driving conditions when choosing a tire.
Another benefit of going to
Sandro...He will cover those warranties. He can do this
because of the relationships he has developed in the industry.
