Membership Procedures
If you have an objection or concern about a proposed member you
should address it with a board member. Please do not make an
objection during a meeting as it may unfairly bias the proposed
member.
Membership procedures are not listed in the bylaws.
We follow "guidelines" which are subject to adjustment.
Nick Mawrenko
Nick is no longer associated with Compass-I. Don't ever do a
partnership! Similar to what Andy has done, Nick has set
himself up with a reputable company that will actually deliver.
He will continue payroll and HR consulting. But another
opportunity came up in the medical records arena. It was a
perfect fit.
The E Myth - The concept of working in your business
as opposed to on your business. The goal is to get your
business to the point where it functions without you.
"So if your business is to change — as it
must continuously to thrive — you must change first. If you are
unwilling to change, your business will never be capable of
giving you what you want."
Bob Busch explained the reason behind his business
transition. It is all about getting new business, getting
those leads.
The primary source of business for members...
-
Referrals (Business-to-Business, Current
Clients, Aggressively ask for Business)
-
Advertising (Google, Internet, mailing lists
from closing businesses)
-
Cold Calling
-
Repeat Business
How am I going to approach the market with my new
venture. Overwhelmingly, referrals are the common source of
business. So what is a referral? A pleased current
client refers you to someone else. Referrals can work two
ways. You can wait for a referral or ask for them.
Dave Crissman - We try to "behave differently" from
our competition. We send handwritten thank you's after
visiting a house. Rather than ask for a referral, we ask them
to share the experience.
Greg Stewart - We offer something tangible. We
give them a gift for referring us. Yes it is bribery.
But it is also a win-win situation for everybody.
When you ask a broad question, the answer will be
"no". Ask a specific question. You will get a better
response.
Don't be afraid to lower your price to gain market
share. Your competitors are going out of business.
Lowering prices is a scary thing.
