Today's Program:
Guest Speaker David Hepburn Jr. of Mentoring Your Success
[Introduction] David Hepburn is an irritator! Yes,
he is an irritator! In his business career, he has grown
businesses to multi-million dollar annual growth. Companies
like Runner's World Magazine, Foot Locker and The San Jose Business
Journal. As a business mentor, he has worked with hundreds of
small business people to grow their business to the levels they
wanted. Today David is asking you this question: "Is
your business boring your prospects and clients?"
Engage the customer and connect to them in a
personal way. Be remarkable. They will remember you.
Instead of asking someone what they do, ask them who they are.
How can you know and like somebody if they only know what you do?
Networking is likeability, compatibility and commonality.
How can you be remarkable?
1) You need to understand the urgency of the
situation. In this new economy, most people do understand the
urgency. But people are spending a lot of time working in
their business instead of on it.
2) Remarkable doesn't mean remarkable to you.
It means being remarkable to somebody else.
3) Being noticed is not the same as being
remarkable.
4) Extremism in the pursuit of remarkability is not
a sin. There is a thin line between confidence and arrogance.
If you can back it up, its not arrogance, it's just the truth.
5) If you are mediocre, you are not remarkable.
6) Not everyone appreciates your efforts at being
remarkable. That is OK. You don't have to be liked by
everybody.
7) If it's in a manual, it's not remarkable.
8) Remarkability is not as frightening as it seems.
9) If you put it on a t-shirt, would people wear it.
10) What's remarkable soon becomes unremarkable.
You need to constantly change and look for the new remarkability.
The first area where your business can be remarkable
is with your products and services. When was the last time you
changed your products or bundled them? Spend 15 minutes a day
working on your business, learning more about your industry and you
will grow.
The second area where you can be remarkable is by
looking at who your clients are. What are their demographics?
Why do they buy from you? The better you can target who your
clients are, the easier it will be to get more.
