This & That
Emotional Reunions - Ryan Bohlander went to
a Vietnam reunion with his parents last week. It was a
powerful experience. Most of the men there did not know each
other. But his dad did see two men that he served with every
day and he cried when he saw them. There were lots of amazing
stories. Many said they had not talked so much about their war
experience as they did at this event.
Bob Busch spent time with the
group we modeled MABE after. He got some good ideas. If
members in that group wanted brochures to hand out they had to $10
each for them. This is how they covered that cost. They
also had a meeting where they broke up into smaller groups and went
through a list of categories. Each had to think about someone
they knew in each category. It was so successful that they
decided to repeat this process on
a regular basis.
Erin LaGrassa shared her
experiences from her recent visit to Iraq. She was both
educated and humbled by her experience. It was neat to meet
the soldiers. They never knew their schedule from day-to-day
because of security risks. Her favorite part was seeing the
Predator, an aircraft that operates without a pilot. It was
all "pretty crazy and cool".

Today's Discussion -
Nick Carr
Nick was born and raised in
South Dakota. He spent his first two years of college at the
University of South Dakota where he minored in drinking 101.
He then went to ASU where he changed his major to history. He
got married in 1981 and has two girls, 8 and 10. Both have
great aspirations in life. His 10-year old wants to be an
inventor, a whale trainer or professional whistler. 8-year old
wants to be a PE teacher. He does a lot of charity work and
his hobby is family, whatever the girls are involved with.
While attending college
full-time he also worked full-time as a manager for World Market
Imports. During this time his wife's uncle approached him
about doing insurance, something he had never considered. He
started with American Family Insurance and eventually went out on
his own. Things are going good. They are growing every
year. He loves what he does. The operate as a
brokerage representing about 20 different companies.
Nick answered members questions
about the insurance industry.
Jeff Sutherlin added a
testimonial...Nick is the most servant leader type you will ever
find. He knows how to help people and network for them.
