We are sad to report that Denver Johnson has resigned from MABE.  We hope that he can return when the economy improves.

For those members that do not have your website photo taken, Herb Stokes has kindly offered to bring his equipment in to the MABE meeting on December 3rd for a photo session.  Please make sure to attend this meeting.

Today's Main Speaker  - Barbara Luther
Barbara has had more jobs than you can shake a stick at.  She worked in insurance, with Chef Boy R-Dee and Billboard Magazine (great freebies!).  One summer she was the world's worst waitress.  She worked for Baxter Laboratories where she got the idea to start her own home business writing manuals of medical terminology for those just getting started.  She eventually found herself working full-time during the day while attending law school at night.  She also found herself in high demand for work at law firms because she could write and "had no social life." She accepted a position with a big international patent law firm.  Her husbands work took them to Silicon Valley which meant yet another job change for Barbara.

One endeavor that she is proud of is her year-long campaign to have the processes at the patent office improved.  She got them to recognize these changes were something important to be recognize.  Her hard work helped the industry and brought in more investors.

With this success under her belt she needed a new challenge.  She decided to go out on her own and became a patent attorney.  Her latest change is to go completely virtual.  She handles the patent process billing and calendars which is critical to the lawyers that she works with.  If someone goes to her with their idea, she prepares steps they should take.  She can handle just a few of the steps or the whole process.  This is a new way of doing things that makes things much more affordable.

Barbara took time to answer member questions.  It looks like Guy Sawyer is on his way to inventing the cushioned paint bucket!
