Volume 17; Issue 39

Members introduced themselves, announced leads and told us what their favorite Thanksgiving dish was.

Member Spotlight
This week's spotlight is John Dennett.  Please keep this member top of mind this week for referrals.

Member Photos
For those members that do not have your website photo taken, Herb Stokes has kindly offered to bring his equipment in to the MABE meeting on December 3rd for a photo session.  Please make sure to attend this meeting.

Holiday Schedule
There will be no meeting the weekend of Thanksgiving (NEXT WEEK!), Christmas and New Year's.

The MABE holiday party will be on December 18th at Janice Jaicks home.  Today Janice passed around a signup sheet.  She would like to have people sign up to bring a dish.  She wants to know what you are bringing so she can make sure we have an even mixture of food.  She also recommended attendees pitch in $10-15 for drinks.

Membership
Robert Busch has requested a leave of absence.

Speaker Schedule
Sandro Menasci will be our speaker on December 3rd.  We will also get our newer members on the speaking roster.  Contact Ryan Bohlander if you would like to speak.

Nick Carr has requested we add "Category Brainstorming" to the agenda.

Today's Program

Do you feel obligated to refer MABE members?

  • If the service is available in MABE, absolutely!

  • I think it is earned.

  • Obligation is a tough word.  I would certainly take the opportunity.

  • I think everybody should have the opportunity and it is how you deliver that determines future leads.  Otherwise, how would new members earn it.

  • It used to be easier with the brochure you could hand out.  I also encourage my employees to refer members.

  • This is what MABE is all about.  There might be a few exceptions but by the very nature of how the group is built members should get the leads.

  • What if you have a relationship with another vendor outside the group?

  • I still give leads to former members from many years ago.

  • I still think I have a responsibility to get to the organization to give the new member a chance.

  • This organization started with 12 people that fully understood the necessity to promote each other.

  • I think as a new member it is my responsibility to get know other members.  It is not either or to me.

  • Being in MABE presents opportunity.  You build relationships by being in MABE.  I may eventually switch over to MABE services.

Tell us about a great experience working with a MABE member.

  • John Dennett gave kudos to Nick Mawrenko for being so helpful with outside events.

  • Nick Mawrenko appreciates how easy and painless Dave Lathrop makes the car buying experience.

  • Lin Schmelzer appreciated the speed and effortless of service provided by Dave Crissman when she needed her water heater replaced.

  • Guy Sawyer uses Sandro Menasci's service despite the distance.  It was such a different experience from working with previous mechanics.

  • Joe Zingale walked into work the other day with his employees giving the "deer in the headlights" look.  The computers were down.  His IT guys couldn't fix it.  Mark Menasci had them up and running in 5 minutes.

  • Janice Jaicks echoes the efficiency of Mark Menasci.  He does it remotely and quickly.

  • Ryan Bohlander mentioned that when your child is involved you are particularly concerned about the service.  He likes being able to work directly with Janice Jaicks, the owner to make sure his daughter is getting the best.

  • Nick Carr appreciates the services provided by Chris Curran and Joe Burr.  He also appreciates all of the referrals from Joe Hesch.  For some odd reason people are extremely happy with his work.

  • Chris Curran very much appreciated Nick Carr's referral.  He found Nick to be very gracious about the difficulty of the process and understanding what needed to be done.

  • Sandro Menasci emphasized the true value of MABE being that you can trust other members and depend on them to deliver on your leads.

  • Jim Bache addressed the negative but important side of this issue.  It is important to bring bad service to the attention of the board.  Having a member consistently provide poor service is a reflection of the group.

  • Chris Curran disagrees.  He believes this is not something the board should be spending time on.  They should be working on growing the group vs. dealing with petty disputes.  These members need to deal with it as adults.

  • Jim Bache emphasized that his concerns were not with petty disputes but rather the importance of maintaining the integrity of the group.
