Today's Program - Dr. George Bohlander
Dr. George
Bohlander is Professor Emeritus of Management at Arizona State
University, where he taught human resources, labor relations,
management, and organizational behavior classes for 25 years. Dr.
Bohlander has published more than 50 articles and monographs in
professional and practitioner journals, consulted numerous public
and private organizations, and served as a labor arbitrator for
numerous employee/employer labor grievances. He received his M.B.A.
from the University of Southern California and his Ph.D. from the
University of California at Los Angeles.
At the beginning of today's meeting members took a short "Behavior
Styles Inventory" designed by Associated Consultants based in
Gilbert. After completing and self-scoring the inventory (15
minutes), members gained an awareness and insight into their
patterns of behavior in both personal professional environments.
This exercise will help members gain an understanding of their
personal behavior style which can enhance both personal and
organizational communication and productivity. The inventory is
based on a persons perceptions and how they react in specific
environments. The questions will allow the participant to discover
their preferences/tendencies toward a controller, analyzer,
supporter, or energizer style. The discussion and take-home
materials included in the program will provide strategies to improve
personal style(s) that a member would like to further develop.
Towards the end of his ASU career, Dr. Bohlander's
favorite topic to lecture on became "teaming". He developed a
class where he gave profiles that helped students to understand
themselves and their preferences. This led to a better
understanding of how each individual worked in group environments,
dealt with conflict resolutions, etc.
After taking the inventory, the group discussed the
results together.
What have we learned? Bob Busch is whacked!
