Leads & Introductions
We went around the room and presented leads and introductions.

Guest Day
Jake Ulrich brought his buddy Joe, a CPA with SureWest in Scottsdale.  He offers consulting on tax planning.  He does business tax and accounting work.

Jeff Sutherlin brought in his son.  He is a young entrepreneur that produces YouTube videos.   His most recent addition is the "ticked off puppy".  He has high hopes of becoming a millionaire before adulthood.

Questions of the Day
What are your plans for marketing going forward?

Janice Jaicks - She is excited about her new website and working with an SEO expert to drive traffic to her site.  She just wasn't seeing the return on the printed materials.  They use Constant Contact to do email marketing.

Erin LaGrassa - They are building a new website for a new product line.  They are doing flashy banners, promoting the site with SEO, having contests and planning a launch party locally.

Fred Vandervort - They are using www.sendoutcards.com to mail out cards to their database of clients.  It looks very personal.

Joe, CPA - Started a website that gets a lot of unique visitors each month.   SEO is a big factor.

Who is your most indispensible employee and why?

Ryan Bohlander - My sister has spent a lot of time reviewing my business and has really jumped on board.  There could be a future partnership coming.

Joe Zingale - Easily, Jeff his nephew.  People go to their company because they want Jeff.  The rest of the staff support him.

Althea Bussert - Me, myself and I.

Erin LaGrassa - Definitely Paul - his vision.

Herb Stokes - The heads of each department.  We rely on them heavily when we can't be there.

Joe, CPA - The person that brings in business.  There is a level of importance on everybody as they all have a different skill set that is needed.

Jake Ulrich - My assistant that keeps things running and allows me to be out meeting with people.  Also the customer base.

Stacy Hyder - My admin assistant that gets me paid.  But the whole team is important.

Joe Hesch - It all starts with me bringing the business in but there is no one stand out as each role is key.  Maybe my processor if I had to pick one.

Don Ellis - My son Darren.  He is valuable and honest.  But I have so many in our team that have the same qualities.

Sandro Menasci - Who can do every single job in the company?  The truth is that the only that can do it is me, but perhaps not as well.

Janice Jaicks - Gretchin.  She does so many things that we don't have a title for her.  She coordinates everything.

Jeff Sutherlin - My partner.  If she didn't want to do it anymore I would not want to continue without her.

Phyllis Prater - I have a diamond dealer that I have worked with 18 years.  He makes me look great and he has always stepped up when I've had a need.

Mark Menasci - This is going to be a real short story!  Bill Gates keeps me in business by making stuff that needs constant repair.

Chris Curran - It changes over time.   Its an interesting inquiry.  Currently, my paralegal.  I could replace her but it would be really difficult.  It has taken me a long time to figure out the type of help I need and it is not a technical, paper mover.  My paralegal is so important because she handles my clients and listens to their incessant bitching.  She is the nice one. My limit on "charming" is about 10-minutes.

Dave Crissman - It depends on which aspect of the business you are looking at.  Today it would be Rosie Romero for driving in business.  I don't like it but it is the situation.  My son who will take over, with the goal of me becoming the employee.

Nick Carr - The shiny, happy person that answers the phone.  She would be tough to replace.

Fred Vandervort - Amber that handles the graphics.  She is willing to step up where ever needed.

Brad Green - Tim is the center of the company.  But you need the talent.

Jim Bache - I have one assistant and she is very good at what she does.  But she is replaceable.  My business wouldn't function without me.

Jeff Sutherlin - The number one reason people leave a company...Its not money!  They leave because they don't feel appreciated.

Follow-up question to ponder...Does any employee hold you hostage?

Member Support - Ryan Bohlander

I had a unique issue in his business that came up.  In the last couple of months he noticed that his brochures in the facilities were running out faster or flipped around.  He has a couple of competitors in the centers.  One of them had their brochures nicely displayed while his and his other competitor were turned over.

  • Print new brochures with your information on both sides.

  • Call her to discuss the issue.

  • Approach her with a combo offer.

  • Call Stacy.

  • Kill her with kindness.
