Janice Jaicks
You cannot drown proof a child.  Janice showed us a nifty wrist band that adults can wear at a pool party that lets everyone know they are in charge.  Kids need constant supervision.  You must keep eye contact and do not let your guard down.

Janice shared with us her "superstars".   During their lessons they try to make it fun why emphasizing safety.  They do have them jump in with full clothing during some lessons.  She talked about the different positive skills that they teach their students.  They use repetition and consistency.

There is a program for adults.  They do one-on-one lessons.

Ryan Bohlander
I actually have a side job where I teach different courses.  In my communications class there is a whole section on persuasion.  In MABE we constantly have to persuade people.  It is always good to have academic rigor, a model, to help in this effort.

Persuasion: How to sell your stuff

  • Persuasion - the attempt to change an audience's attitudes, beliefs, or actions.

  • First Step - Analyze your audience

  • Second Step - Establish credibility

  • Balancing Emotion vs. Logical Appeals

  • The AIDA plan
     - Attention
     - Interest
     - Desire
     - Action

  • Grabbing Attention
