Buddy Lunches
Make sure to get your Buddy Lunches done.

One group reported today...It was a 4-person Buddy Lunch with a combined 60-years of MABE experience between them (Don Ellis, Dave Crissman, Dave Lathrop and Joe Hesch).

Sandro Menasci, Joe Arsenault , Shawn Vigneau and stand-in Don Ellis had a 3-hour Buddy Lunch.

Meeting Update
Next week (10/28) Nick Carr will talk about "Why people quit".

What was your best Halloween costume?

  • Dave Lathrop - He dressed up as a "Bomber" from the Warriors movie with a gang dressed like a baseball team gone mad.

  • Fred Vandervort - Monster head and cape, big hit at parties.

  • Nick Carr - I've done everything (as a kid) from batman to a football player.

  • Dave Crissman - Went as a pumpkin one year which was a challenge...and invasive.  I also went as a priest and people kept trying to tell me things all night.

  • Chris Curran - I was Calvin of Calvin and Hobbs and Johnny Cochran.

  • Jim Bache - I dress as an adult.

  • Joe Hesch - I went as a toilet one year.

  • Bob Busch - I went as Billy Carter (when Jimmy was president).

  • Phyllis Prater - One year I dressed as a very old man which was fun.

  • Terry Schnelle - I Frankenstein costume I pull out every few years.

  • Don Ellis - I was Jack from Jack-in-the-Box.

  • Joe Zingale - One year I went as a front load dumpster complete with garage.

  • Herb Stokes - My mom made me an Evel Knievel costume one year which was my favorite.

  • Jake Ulrich - I'm going with most embarrassing Halloween situation...One of my employees worked at a costume store and gave me a Donald Duck costume.  We had an upset customer that day who wanted to speak to the manager which was me, in this duck outfit.  He did not find the humor in the situation.

  • Joe Arsenault - My mother made me a Robin Hood costume, which may have violated the law.  A few squirrels may have been hurt.  I was.

  • Mark Menasci - As a single man I love Halloween!  My favorite costume was a superman costume that my mom made me.  I still put it on once in a while.

  • Nick Mawrenko - I had the Zorro outfit, cape and sword, lot of fun.

  • Ryan Bohlander - My daughter and I will be rock star zombies this year.

Social Event
Joe Zingale is doing a hike this weekend and everyone is invited.  It will be this Sunday, 8am at South Mountain.

Special Alert
Nick Mawrenko talked about a special assessment tax that is due at the end of the month.  The letters are hitting mailboxes.  Make sure you take care of it.  Most likely your payroll service will NOT be handling it since it is retroactive.

Also, on July 1st all companies will be subject to the job training tax.  And the job creation act lowered the FICA from 6.2 down to 6.  That's what's happening so be aware.

Main Speaker - Sandro Menasci
I started pumping gas and fixing card at the age of 17 at my father's shop.  I went to college and majored in Physics.  The courses I took come in very handy these days.

I have had my own service station for over 20-years.  I have 3 mechanics.  They are good guys who can do anything.  We run a first class establishment.

Cars are changing.  We just upgraded to a very expensive piece of equipment to help us service the newer vehicles. It all has to do with electronics and burning fuel better.

Maintenance has become more and more important.  If your engine light comes on, find out why.   When you go this establishment for an oil change, they look at everything.

By 2014 40% of the cars coming out will be connected to the internet.  When you buy a car make sure to talk to someone like Sandro or Dave Lathrop.  They will tell you what issues you can expect.

Sandro went on to explain how the new cars work and how they determine repairs.  (Modules, binary, data, bits, gateways...blah, blah, blah!)
