Mighty Minute - Polestar Distribution
Erin LaGrassa told the group about a trade show her company
attended last week. It was a great buyer/seller
atmosphere. Her company had a lot of "buzz" around
them. They came out with a new truck that has
generated a lot of excitement.
Their trucks were voted into the top 10 list.
Their hard work is starting to pay off. The industry
itself is fairly young and they see a lot of growth
potential in the near future.
Achieving Goals
Chris Curran lead a discussion on achieving goals. Some of
us announced goals at a meeting about a year ago. Did
we achieve them?
A few members shared their stories.
- We
had a shift in attitude and focused on our company
(vs. a hobby). We knew we had to take
advantage of opportunities in the industry.
There was not an option.
- I
had to get on my hands and knees every night and
work my butt off.
- It
is important to be consistent. Keep pushing
and pushing. Work through the road bumps.
- I
am not afraid to make phone calls.
- It
is about taking chances and having faith.
-
You have to work on your business as opposed to in
your business.
-
You need to have a plan to go along with your goals
if you expect to achieve them.
-
The words "success" and "failure" can do more harm
than good. They stop people from doing
something again to get a different result.
-
Life is dynamic. Business is dynamic.
Things change. You have to decide in life what
you want to go after and what you want to put the
effort into. You have to make choices.
-
Current problems may be seen later as a success.
-
Sometimes we do our best work when our backs are
against the wall.
-
Your goals have to be realistic. And you have
to adjust your goals based on what life throws at
you.
-
There must be some motivation behind setting goals.
They must be realistic. You have to have an
action plan. You need accountability.
You have to be flexible.
