Tempe Chamber of Commerce &
Other Associations
The board will find a volunteer to represent MABE
at the Tempe Chamber of Commerce.
There was discussion on whether or not MABE should join the BBB.
It was agreed that it was not a good idea to join other
organizations.
Membership
Dave Crissman agreed to head the Membership Committee and we would
have Jake Ulrich assist.
The initiation fee was discussed.
It was agreed that the standard fee would be $150 but it would
be discounted to $75 for applicants that attend our guest
events.
There was a discussion on member
categories. It was decided that it was not a good
idea to allow members to hold more than one category. If a
potential member engages in work that crosses categories, they
would need to choose upfront which one they will be representing
at MABE.
Holiday Party
Dave Lathrop went over the results of the 19 completed
holiday surveys . Based on these results, the board
decided to have a casual, more intimate holiday party at the
home of Melissa Matthews. It will be a potluck and BYOB.
$1000 will be allocated for the event. Mabe will cover the
member's fee but still charge a nominal fee for all guests.
The party was scheduled for Saturday, December 19th.
Meetings
The board discussed how to improve the quality of meetings.
Some members want to emphasize member speeches again,
especially with there being so many new members that don't know
what everyone does. Others feel that it is important to
focus on business discussions.
Customer Experience Form
Dave Lathrop would like to have members complete a Customer
Experience Form similar to the one used by the BBB and the
referral system on LinkedIn. These "referrals" would then
be added to the MABE website.
Brochure Insert
Dave Lathrop suggested a change to a simpler format for the
brochure updates. He proposes a simple insert with key
information (name, category, phone, website) and then direct
users to go to the MABE website for more detailed information.
Financials
Members were presented with the year-end (10/31/09)
financials statements. We will wait a month to see if we
fill the accountant category. If not, we will send the
financials to last year's accounting firm for tax purposes.
