BOARD ELECTIONS
Dave Lathrop, Andy Jensen and Steve Chilton are going off
the board. Nominations will take place tomorrow.
Speeches will be held the following week. Elections will
be on 26th. The board discussed potential candidates
including Guy Sawyer, Nick Mawrenko, Jake Ulrich, Janice Jaicks,
Lin Schmelzer and Carole Weishaar and Joe Hesch.
We will have Erin Jaicks run the
meeting on February 26th. Dave Lathrop would like to see
us acknowledge exiting members on March 5th and then let the new
board take over.
TEMPE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
There was some discussion about MABE's membership with this
group. Bob Busch envisioned it as a source for potential
members, other small businesses. Don Ellis believes we
should get out of it. Many members are already involved
with such groups on an individual level. Dave Lathrop
suggested that we make sure to have representation at the
meetings if we are to continue membership. New members of
the Chamber would be good targets as they are looking for
something.
MARKETING (WEBSITE / BROCHURE)
Dave Lathrop suggested we do a better job of marketing the
website. He suggested having someone monitor the content,
for example, encourage members to submit referrals.
Dave Lathrop suggest we also go
to a more simplified brochure format that is easier to update.
People can then be referred to the website for more information.
MEMBERSHIP
The board agreed that we should send a letter to the
Dekavallas's letting them know that their membership is being
dropped due to lack of commitment (attendance, financial).
The board also discussed have a
meeting that focuses on why MABE began and the reason attendance
is so important. We also agreed that regular guest events
would be a good idea.
BUDDY LUNCH / SOCIALS
We discussed implementing a more structured process for buddy
lunches. Melissa Matthews suggested having members that
wish to participate throw their business cards in a hat at MABE
once a month. Steve Chilton has found it hard to get
members to commit to lunches, happy hours, etc. We will
discuss the importance of having a social aspect to the group at
tomorrow's meeting. This will help give the new board some
direction. Dave Lathrop agreed to put out a social survey
to find out what members would like to do.
