Board Notes:

The board discussed simplifying and speeding up the membership application process.  Key points:

  • Allow up to two guest visits before a potential member must apply.
  • Remove initiation fee.
  • Continue to allow only 3-business days for members to review and comment on pending application.
  • Create a new, simplified version of the application on the new site that is automatically sent to members.
  • We will maintain the requirement that potential members be business owners or high level decision-makers if it is a new company coming into the group.  (Skin in the game analogy).
  • The above requirement could be waived if a new representative from an existing member company attended meetings in place of the original person.
  • The group discussed bringing back focus to open categories.
  • Have a regularly scheduled "guest" meeting where existing members are encouraged to bring potential members.
  • We need to remind members to talk about and promote MABE.

Matt Dallas requested that we bring back focus to leads by including a reference during Leads & Introductions.  Key points:

  • Announce "Who is a good lead for me?"
  • Mention a new product or service.
  • Highlight a segment of your business to help other give you leads.

There brief mention of plans for the groups online presence.  Key points:

  • The new website should be active in 2-4 weeks.
  • Melissa will give Granison access to existing accounts - Facebook, Gmail, Twitter.
  • Members will be asked to submit their own professional photos for the website.

A mentoring-type program was discussed.  Key points:

  • The group agreed that young entrepreneurs would be better suited for this program than students.  Students tend to graduate and take jobs.  But those starting a new company could gain value from MABE members and eventually become regular members themselves.
  • The people would be allowed to bring guests - limitation to be determined.
  • Parameters would need to be set up to maintain the integrity of the program and ensure success.
  • Nick Mawrenko agreed to begin development on this program.
